Slowly the mixed Southerly fleet is assembling at QAB Plymouth for the 2012 Regatta. The Guernsey contingent of Maid Honor and Volaré were in the harbour a day early, and will hopefully enjoy the racing and the events with all the other entrants. Volaré is especially welcome as she is Hull No. 1 of the latest Southerly, the 47.
Last night the council hosted the Olympic Torch and a huge gathering on the Hoe. That and Chelsea beating the Germans on penalities meant that this skipper had an enjoybale first night in Plymouth.
The Regatta proper starts shortly with Registration, and the passage race to Fowey leaves tomorrow morning.
Martin Pumphrey (Salty 32) is co-ordinating the SW Muster, which follows on from the Northshore Regatta in Plymouth. The current plans are :
24th May – overnight at Plymouth Yacht Haven
25th May – overnight on anchor at Dandys Hole up the Lynher
26th May – overnight on anchor in mouth of the Yealm
27th May – overnight on anchor at Tremain Quay up the Helford. (Alternative: on
visitors mooring at Fowey depending on weather)
28th May – overnight on anchor or pontoon up the Fal near Tolverne or Trelissick
House
29th May – Disperse, possibly via a few days in the Scillies for those with time
If interested, please contact Martin at the address noted in the Events Section of the web site.
The Southerly fleet is gearing up for a trip Westwards (to Plymouth and Fowey) for the 2012 Northshore Regatta. The event will be run from the 20th – 25th May. If you have not yet booked in, but wish to join the fun, contact Northshore directly. If you wish to travel westwards in company, there are a couple of small fleets leaving the Solent area from 14th-15th May. Please email me for further information (details under committee section).
