The Guernsey contingent of Maid Honor and Volaré were in the harbour a day early, and will hopefully enjoy the racing and the events with all the other entrants. Volaré is especially welcome as she is Hull No. 1 of the latest Southerly, the 47.</p>
<p>Last night the council hosted the Olympic Torch and a huge gathering on the Hoe. That and Chelsea beating the Germans on penalities meant that this skipper had an enjoybale first night in Plymouth.<br />
The Regatta proper starts shortly with Registration, and the passage race to Fowey leaves tomorrow morning.</p>

<p>Further to the article contributed by Reg a few months ago, here are the final rally details:</p>
<p>Hopefully you have all had an excellent 2011 sailing season, despite the unreliable summer weather and you were able to join in with some of our rallies last year.</p>
<p>Below is our provisional 2012 programme, which I hope will help you plan your itinerary for 2012.  If anyone has any further ideas for events outside the Solent area, any comments or is interested in helping to organise one of our events in their area, please contact Reg Hadwen on brhadwen@btinternet.com or 01494 673968.</p>
<p>Newport Rally.</p>
<p>Our traditional opening rally. This year over the Spring Bank holiday.<br />
Sat 5th May gather in Newport. Informal dining arrangements.<br />
Sun 6th May in Newport, Pontoon party organised by Anna Greenwood followed with a dinner at Lugleys Restaurant<br />

<p>Following the AGM our speaker is Trycha Darling, who will talk about her ARC trip in her S42RST &#8216;Triple D&#8217; with her two daughters. The Darlings originally did the trip raising funds for Centrepoint a charity for the homeless in London. Any donations for the charity would be most welcome. </p>
<p>Hornet Sailing Club shares its premises with the JSSC (Joint Services Adventure Sail Training Centre), and hence is subject to some Ministry of Defence Rules. These only require us to give prior warning of cars and people using the site. </p>

<p>A full rally programme with an expression of interest form will be in the Spring Magazine.<br />
Information will be on our web site over the winter months  It is necessary to have an idea of numbers for each rally so that the organisers can liaise with the security/caterers at each marina.</p>
